Artist: LUCONG

This is an amazing portrait artist! Lu Cong has taken a different approach to figurative realism, and he has a very unique style. The subjects in his paintings pose with a straight face, staring straight ahead like a dear in headlights. The models are not glamorous at all. Most are women; thin and pale looking. There is definitely a certain "look" that he likes for his models. There is something quite strange and awkward about his paintings and models. I think that is what makes them interesting to look at. Check Out this Artist..

Recently, while looking through an issue of New American Paintings, I came across this amazing artist, Ted Vasin! I love his style and the surreal scenes that he creates in his paintings. Also his use of mixed mediums (graphite and acrylic), as well as color isolation; something I like to use within my own art. His work is facinating to me. It encourages me to experiment more with mixed mediums as well as with more surreal subjects.

Here is one of his illustrations..
